Divine Liturgy on the waters of the river Neman will be held in Belarus in the monastery of the Holy yeliseyevsky Lavrikovskoe monastery on the occasion of the 1030-th anniversary of the baptism of Rus, said on Friday at the monastery.

The feast of the Baptism of Russia is celebrated day of memory of Holy Prince Vladimir (July 28), whereby in 988 ancient Rus adopted Christianity.

«The twenty-eighth of July 2018… in honor of the 1030-th anniversary of the baptism of Rus in our monastery will be unique to our places of worship: the baptismal divine Liturgy on the waters of the Nemunas river. Previously, the time of making the baptismal divine Liturgy will be at 8.00-9.00 (same as GMT),» reads a statement on the website of the monastery.

In addition, the night before the monastery will host a festive all-night vigil.

According to the information portal собор.by in celebration of the Baptism of Rus ‘ on Saturday at 12.00 all temples of the country will hear the bell ringing. Will be held the festive service, which will read out the message of Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill on the occasion of the 1030-th anniversary of the baptism of Rus. It is planned that the Patriarchal Exarch of all Belarus, Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslavsky Paul will hold a service in the Church of the Holy Prince Vladimir in Minsk.

The celebrations have begun in Kiev. As reported in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, in the procession in honor of the 1030-th anniversary of the baptism of Russia on Friday in Kiev was attended by about 250 thousand faithful from all the dioceses of the UOC and pilgrims from abroad, despite the obstacles scale was created for the faithful of the Ukrainian officials and carriers.

In the Russian capital, the main celebration will take place on July 28. They will be attended by heads and representatives of 11 local Orthodox churches in the world.
