Russian parliamentarians have no illusions in relation to their American counterparts, although I think the renewed dialogue a positive development, said the Federation Council speaker Valentina Matvienko.

«Differences will certainly remain. No rosy illusions in relation to the American counterparts we don’t have,» said she, speaking at a meeting of the Federation Council.

However, said Matvienko, the first steps to restore the dialogue done, that is, «major positive shift». «Let’s not forget the folk wisdom: «better a bad peace than a good quarrel», — said the speaker.

Matviyenko said that the resumption after a long break the Russian-American inter-parliamentary dialogue is a positive development. A meeting of the Russian senators with colleagues from the United States «in a sense, became the prologue of» the Helsinki summit of the presidents of Russia and the United States, she added.

A group of us congressmen visited Russia from June 30 to July 5 and has held several official meetings with the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and both chambers of the Russian Parliament. This is the first visit of an American delegation of parliamentarians, especially as such a representative in Russia in 2013.

Matviyenko earlier announced that in early August, Russia plans to bring another delegation of the Congress of the United States, the speaker of the Federation Council is ready to meet with her if will be in Moscow.
