Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin has congratulated all Orthodox Christians on the Day of the baptism of Rus.

«I congratulate all the Orthodox with the great feast of the baptism of Rus. 1030 years ago, people chose one faith that created a new civilization, brought us together and helped me overcome many trials,» wrote the mayor in his microblog on Twitter.

On Saturday across Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and other countries are ecclesial celebrations of the 1030-th anniversary of the baptism of Russia and day of memory of Saint Prince Vladimir, who at the end of X century ushered in Ancient Christianity as a state religion.
