RIA Novosti. Ankara will not refuse from importing Iranian gas because of the intention of Washington to introduce new sanctions against Tehran, said Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
«I talked to Obama, and Trump reiterated that Turkey buys Iranian gas. If you stop these supplies, who will provide the «blue fuel» Turkey?» — quoted Erdogan the Anadolu Agency.
Erdogan also noted that the United States can lose a reliable ally in Turkey.
In may, Donald trump announced the US withdrawal from the agreement with Iran on its nuclear program made in 2015 «six» of international mediators (Russia, USA, Britain, China, France, Germany). In addition, the American leader has promised to restore sanctions against Iran and other countries doing business with Iran.
The US has also warned other countries from bypass sanctions against Iran. On Friday, senators from the Republican party sent letters to the embassies of Germany, France and the UK, warning of the possible consequences of attempts to evade the anti-Iran restrictions.
