Eritrea and Somalia have agreed to establish diplomatic relations

The President of Eritrea, Isaias Afewerki and his counterpart from Somalia, Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed signed an agreement envisaging the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, according to the Eritrean Ministry of information.

«The two countries will establish diplomatic relations, exchange ambassadors and will promote bilateral trade, investment and educational and cultural exchange», — quotes the Ministry signed the document.

The agreement also States that Eritrea and Somalia «aim to establish political, economic, social and cultural cooperation», as well as cooperation in the sphere of security and defense and «will work together to maintain peace in the region, stability and economic integration».

Earlier, Eritrea had signed a Declaration of peace and friendship with Ethiopia, the document marked the end of a state of war between the two States. Two weeks ago it became known that Ethiopia appointed Ambassador to Eritrea. They became Redvan Hussein, former acting Ambassador of the country in Ireland.
