The increase in value added tax will increase the financial burden on the travelers in the Caucasus tourists, and would be appropriate here certain preferences, said in an interview with RIA Novosti General Director of joint-stock company «Northern Caucasus Resorts» Hassan Timirev.

«From the point of view of tourists today, we have quite a serious tax burden — increases the value-added tax. Ultimately it falls on the shoulders of the consumer, which leads to the increase in the cost of skiing. If there was a preference, it would be well,» replied Timirev to the question of what would stimulate the development of resorts of the North Caucasus.

«Moreover, in our opinion, it is necessary to provide a system for subsidizing of air transportation. We have a big country, the majority of Russian tourists to come to the Caucasus by car is difficult, and families with young children won’t be able to go on such a long trip,» continued Timirev.

«In the summer and winter season we are seeing a huge increase in the cost of tickets, sometimes the ticket of economy class on the route Moscow — Mineralnye Vody round trip can cost up to 30 thousand rubles. In this situation we can say the development of ski tourism, attracting tourists, if only the cost of air travel «eats» almost the whole family budget on vacation?» — he complained.

The Federation Council earlier approved a law increasing the VAT rate from 1 January 2019 to 20% from current 18% and at the same time retaining on a permanent basis, the rate of insurance contributions to the social extra-budgetary state Fund at 30%. At the same time by 2025 to extend the validity of the zero rate of VAT to air transportation of passengers and cargo in the Crimea and Sevastopol, and also sets the same rate for air travel in the regions of the Far East. The validity of the zero rate VAT on air travel in the Kaliningrad region is also set to 2025.
