Obolonskiy district court of Kiev on Tuesday commissioned the Centre for free legal aid to appoint ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych the new free state attorney.

Earlier, the court scheduled arguments in the case of Yanukovych on 30 and 31 July and 1 August as a backup date. But on Monday and Tuesday, the debate has not begun. Lawyer Yanukovych Vitaliy Serdyuk on Tuesday asked the court to return to the stage of examination of witnesses, but the court refused the protection. Serdyuk left the meeting, the prosecution asked the court to appoint the former President of Ukraine, the new state attorney.

«To instruct the regional centers of free secondary legal aid in Kiev with the aim of ensuring the right to defense of the accused during the judicial debate urgent to appoint a lawyer to carry out the protection,» said presiding judge Vladislav Devyatko.

According to him, the new Goodwood should come to the next hearing, which is scheduled for August 1 at 10: 00 (same as GMT). The judge said that the current advocates of Yanukovych will not be excluded from the process, and can represent the interests of the ex-President in parallel with goodlocation. The court declared a break in session.

Previously a private attorney Alexander Baidyk announced that has signed an agreement with Yanukovych, on the representation of his interests in court. According to him, he intends to ask the court to give him time to familiarize with the case materials.
