Located in the Amur region Bureya hydroelectric power plant said that the beginning of the discharge of water over the turbine because of the flooding in the far East.

«Bureyskaya HPP the beginning of the discharge of water over the turbine, increasing the total flow through the dam to 1500±350 cubic meters per second. For the passage of flood water on the station was opened one shutter spillway of the dam by three meters. In the days that followed provides for a gradual increase in waste costs 500 cubic meters per second per day», — stated in the message.

According HPP, water discharge does not threaten downstream settlements and will not aggravate flooding on the Amur river.

«Despite the temporary increase in expenditure through the hydro system, the reservoir will be further focused on the containment of surging water. All interested organizations of the region informed about the mode change. Water pass through the spillways of the Bureyskaya HPP will continue to improve the hydrological environment,» reports the station.

On Monday, Deputy head of the Khabarovsk regional Central Board MOE situational management Vitaly Darchia reported that the water from the Bureya hydroelectric power station will reach Khabarovsk after the passage of the flood.

Because of the constant rains in the Amur region, increasing the water level in the Amur river and small rivers. In early August, the flood crest is expected in Khabarovsk — the level of the river can exceed five meters (adverse level is 4.5 meters dangerous — six).
