Realization in Crimea of major infrastructure projects is the best illustration of the utter failure of the sanctions policy against Russian companies, said the Vice-Premier of the Crimean government Dmitry Polonsky.
Previously, the European Council made to the list of sanctions in connection with the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait six Russian companies: «SGM-Bridge», JSC «WAD», shipbuilding plant «Zaliv», PJSC «Mostotrest», the Institute «Giprostroymost», «SGM — SGM group». In the decree, published Tuesday in the official journal of the European Union, said that under the measures «non-recognition of illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol, the EU Council considers the construction of the Kerch bridge as the further actions that undermine the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine».

Crimea became a Russian region after held there in March 2014 referendum in which 96.77% of voters of the Republic of Crimea and 95.6% of residents of Sevastopol voted for joining Russian Federation. Crimean authorities held a referendum after a coup in Ukraine in February 2014. The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the inhabitants of Crimea democratically in full compliance with international law and the UN Charter voted for reunification with Russia. According to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the Crimea issue «is closed permanently.»
