Petrozavodsk city court on Tuesday extended till November 7, the term of arrest for Director of the Park hotel «Syamozero» Elena Reshetova and her Deputy, Vadim Vinogradov, accused in the death of 14 children in June 2016, told RIA Novosti lawyer Michael Login.

According to the interlocutor of the Agency, the decision was passed by judge Alexander Smirnov after consideration of the petition of the representatives of the Prosecutor’s office.

«The court extended custody (Reshetovaa and Vinogradov) on November 7,» — said Login protecting in the process the acting head of the Karelian Rospotrebnadzora Lyudmila Kotovich (accused of negligence).

Petrozavodsk city court has started consideration of criminal case in April 2018. Currently questioning witnesses and studying written materials. As explained Sogin, from 23 April to 17 July, the court had questioned and read out the testimony of the 57 victims, 30 legal representatives and 184 witnesses.

A consequence was charged under part 3 of article 238 and article 125 of the criminal code of Russian Federation («Rendering services not meeting safety requirements, leaving in danger»), the Director of «the Park Hotel «Syamozero» Elena Reshetova, her Deputy, head of the camp Vadim Vinogradov, instructors Paul Valery Ilyin and Krupoderova. Acting head of the Karelian management of Rospotrebnadzora Lyudmila Kotovich and former head of the Agency Anatoliy Kovalenko are charged with violating part 3 of article 293 of the criminal code of Russian Federation («the Negligence which has entailed death of two and more persons»).

Tragedy on the Syamozero in Karelia took place on 18th June 2016. Children from camp «the Park hotel «Syamozero» went along with the instructors on a walk around the lake. In the entire group was 51 people, four of them adults. When the storm began, two canoes with children carried out on the open water, and the raft with their comrades nailed to one of the Islands. Both canoes overturned. Killed 14 children. Camp «the Park hotel «Syamozero» was closed.

The investigation by the Prosecutor’s office it was determined that the children were taken on a tour of the faulty and overloaded boats. The children were not provided with lifejackets, and the camp did not have the necessary level of preparation for the water court practice.
