New EU sanctions against Russian companies linked to envy the success of the Crimea, said the head of the Public chamber of the Republic Grigory Ioffe.

The EU Council added to the list of sanctions in connection with the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait six Russian companies, the corresponding decree was published on Tuesday in the EU official journal. In the app named «SGM-Bridge», JSC «WAD», shipbuilding plant «Zaliv», PJSC «Mostotrest», the Institute «Giprostroymost», «SGM — SGM group».

The sanctions include the freezing of assets belonging to these organizations in the EU, as well as the prohibition for individuals and legal entities registered in the European Union, to provide them with any funds.

«There is a household expression: «Toad strangling». They were convinced that their sanctions, their attitude will bring us all to the point that we are going to tighten their belts to the bone die with hunger, will not be able to produce anything to do. But we live, work and act», — told reporters Ioffe.

In his opinion, the sanctions, first of all, is strangling the economy and business countries who initiate them.

A bridge to the Crimea from the Krasnodar region — the longest in Russia, its length is 19 kilometers. The beginning of the movement of vehicles originally planned for December 2018, but the work was completed ahead of schedule. Russian President Vladimir Putin opened the automobile part of the bridge across the Kerch Strait may 15, the movement of vehicles running on 16 may. The opening movement of trains on the railway part of the bridge is scheduled for December 2019.
