After the signing of the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian sea region will become a magnet for new investment, said to RIA Novosti, the Minister of foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kayrat Abdrakhmanov.

The presidents of the five littoral States will meet in Aktau on August 12 to summarize many years of negotiations on the legal status of the Caspian sea summit will be preceded by a meeting of foreign Ministers of the Caspian States scheduled for August 11.

«The settlement of Caspian sea status will certainly contribute to the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the riparian countries in critical sectors of the economy. I am sure that it will give a powerful impetus to the development of the entire Caspian region, will be the attraction for new investment flows and the implementation of joint projects in the priority sectors,» said Abdrakhmanov in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He noted that «today the region has already implemented the largest joint projects in the oil and gas industry». «It should be noted that by the end of 2017 in the Western region of Kazakhstan has attracted more than 9.5 billion dollars, which amounted to 46% of the gross inflows of foreign direct investment in Kazakhstan», — said Abdrakhmanov.
