The presidents of Russia and Turkey Vladimir Putin and Tayyip Erdogan discussed by phone on economic and trade relations between the two countries, reported RIA Novosti a source in the administration of the Turkish leader on Friday.

«Today, our President during the events in Bayburt had a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. The leaders exchanged views on bilateral economic and trade relations, and also discussed the situation in the region. They noted with satisfaction that these relations are developing in a positive way. They also welcomed the cooperation in the fields of defense industry and energy», — said the Agency interlocutor.

He added that Erdogan and Putin also discussed developments in Syria in light of the implementation of the Astana agreements.
