President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara will respond to the declared trade war, turning to new markets, reports the Turkish Anadolu news Agency.

On Friday, the US President, Donald trump declared that sanctioned twice to raise taxes on aluminum and steel from Turkey — up to 20% and 50%, respectively, which caused another drop in the Turkish Lira to a historic low. It fell to 6.62 per dollar, having lost during the day nearly 20% of its value.

‘We will reply to those who have declared a trade war on the world and dragged it to our country, cooperation in the framework of the new associations and the unions’ stated the Turkish leader. Erdogan added that Turkey will respond to it, «turned to new markets.»

The President noted that the purpose of such operation «to subdue the Turkey in all spheres, from Finance to politics.» He added that his country faced «treacherous political game», and «it is foolish to believe that Turkey will tremble from the exchange rate».

Relations between Ankara and Washington
