Russian President Vladimir Putin considers it necessary to hold regular consultations between the naval forces of the Caspian countries to prevent incidents in the Caspian sea.

«More importance is also the agreement on prevention of incidents on the Caspian sea, which will be greatly to strengthen the system of confidence-building measures in the region. Effective mechanism of cooperation in this direction can be regular consultations between the Navy of our countries, meeting fleet commanders», — Putin said at a meeting of the summit of the Caspian countries.

In the Kazakh city of Aktau began meeting the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran, the results of which will be signed for the region historical document — the Convention on the status of the Caspian sea, worked on it for 22 years.
