Russia is ready for a possible introduction of new US sanctions against participants in the construction of the pipeline «Nord stream-2», these sanctions will not stop the project, said RIA Novosti, first Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Vladimir Jabbarov.

The new package of US sanctions against companies participating in the project «Northern stream-2» is in the advanced stage of development, the newspaper reported the Wall Street Journal on Saturday. As said the publication of former and current U.S. officials, the draft sanctions is in the process of discussion, they can be introduced in a few weeks.

«Russia to these sanctions, which I think will be inevitably introduced, finish. Do not rule out that sanctions and overcoming them were discussed yesterday at a meeting of leaders of Russia and Germany» — said dzhabarov.

According to him, the US should not expect that sanctions will stop the implementation of the project or will contribute to the exit of the participants. «Despite this, the project will be implemented, the US should not expect that someone will lure liquefied natural gas market», — said the Senator.

The project «Northern stream-2» involves the construction of two pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas off the coast of Russia through the Baltic sea to Germany. The new pipeline is planned to be build next to the existing «Northern stream». It will pass through the territorial sea or the exclusive economic zone of the countries located along the shores of the Baltic sea — Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.
