Diclofenac may increase the risk of deadly diseases by 50 percent, according to a study by Danish scientists on the website of medical journal the British Medical Journal.

The researchers ‘ work covered 6.3 million Danes aged 46 to 49 years. Patients were divided into three groups, depending on the risk of heart disease: low, medium and high. During the study experts found a close relationship between the use of diclofenac and various cardiovascular problems, particularly arrhythmia, ischemic stroke, heart failure and heart attack. However, such complications were observed in a thirty day period the use of medications. The negative effect noticed in those who took lower doses of the drug.

The scientists also compared the incidence of heart disease in patients taking diclofenac and other painkillers. In the end, it turned out that diclofenac Danes experienced an average of one heart attack than those who consumed ibuprofen or naproxen. In addition, used for sedation diclofenac patients three times more likely to suffer from heart disease than had used paracetamol.

Diclofenac, an analgesic is included in the List of vital and essential medicinal products for medical use. In Russia, this drug is sold without a prescription.
