The bear attacked the collector of berries from the village Kruglikovo in the Khabarovsk territory — the man is alive, the bear looking for the hunters, told RIA Novosti on Wednesday the chief of Department of preservation of objects of fauna of the Committee of hunting Ministry of natural resources of region Yury Cap.

«The victim, he picked berries in the forest, and he was attacked by a Himalayan black bear. The man wounded the bear with a knife, and he ran away. We check this information, go to our inspectors and game wardens. Place the victim described in words, traces of any struggle or of blood specialists were not found. The wounded bear was never found. We keep the situation under control,» said Hood.

According to him, the doctors confirmed that the wounds on the victim’s body match the wounds that can leave bear. Now the man has been discharged from hospital.

«About bears that go to the villages in the area and threatened the people, information has been received. But we have a permit to shoot the predator. If you need to do this, we are ready,» he said.

According to the Ministry, since the beginning of this year, the province occurred more than 80 conflict situations involving wild animals, including 27 with the participation of the Amur tiger, 25 — with brown bears, 23 — Himalayan. Attacking the person only happened once — with the participation of the Himalayan bear. In most cases, large predators appeared near the villages, were registered cases of attacks by tigers on dogs.

Earlier it was reported that the withdrawal bears to settlements in Khabarovsk Krai occur annually. In 2017 in the region were more than 45 such cases, more than 20 bears are shot. In 2015, police shot and killed a bear that broke into a shopping centre in Khabarovsk, and then went into the residential area.
