In the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous district the strong scientific cluster associated with oil and gas production, scientists in the region make a great contribution to the development of the national project «Bazhen», which aims to help develop new technologies for the extraction of tight oil, said Deputy energy Minister Pavel Sorokin.

The aim of the national project «Bazhen» is the localization and development in Ugra technology required for the development of the Bazhenov formation, a group of rocks in Western Siberia tight oil reserves. In the framework of the past in may the St. Petersburg international economic forum the Ministry of industry and trade of the Russian Federation, the regional authorities and the company «Gazprom oil» have agreed on joint action in the development of the Bazhenov formation, the supply of which, according to various estimates, the amount of 10-30 billion tons of oil.

On Wednesday in Khanty-Mansiysk held a working meeting dedicated to fostering the development of hydrocarbon reserves of hard and ensuring technological independence of the state in the oil industry. In addition to Sorokin’s participation in it was accepted by the Governor of the Autonomous Okrug Natalia Komarova and the leaders of several major oil companies.

«In the development of, for example, «bazena» in those first steps we make in this project, a very large contribution of scientific staff from the region. Development project «bagina» and stranded in whole or in stimulating production in Western Siberia is the interagency work with the direct participation of the region», — said Sorokin at the meeting.

According to him, in Yugra created a strong research cluster, accumulated a giant database from the study, long-term field development, and there is great human potential. He also stressed that the region has financial resources and projects that can use these resources to invest, stimulating the industry.

«We are looking at how to stimulate extraction in Western Siberia, in particular tools such as TEI (tax on extra income), which will start work from 1 January 2019 and will be in a certain range to take into account the Economics of field development. This is a very important course of the experiment, which will allow us to approach the best practices of taxation in the world», — said Sorokin.

In turn, the Governor of Ugra Natalia Komarova stressed that the project «Bazhen» received support at the Federal level and today is the search for optimal forms to structure tasks and goals.

«At least this project initiative, the creation of a project portfolio management and the government of the Russian Federation under the supervision of the relevant Deputy Prime Minister… There are other possibilities, and one that will be most effective is likely to be adopted by the government for further implementation», — said the head of the region.
