A departure from Christian values reduces the chances of the EU to become stronger, said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Siarto during a plenary session of the international economic forum in Krynica-zdrój.

«My vision does not correspond to the liberal mainstream. If we are talking about values, you should explain what the values mean. We are talking about Christian values or not?» — said Siyyarto.

«It was on Christian values, Europe has become strong. The more we move away from them, the less chance we have of return to a strong competitive community,» he added, noting that Europe is a «Christian continent.»

«We are here in Poland, in Hungary cannot understand how in Western Europe trying to get rid of the Christian heritage. As, for example, Christian symbols removed from public buildings,» he said.

The Hungarian Minister believes that «a liberal Europe is a dead end.»

«If we select the countries of competence, we weaken these countries. How to make a strong body, if do the weak links?» asked Szijjártó.

He believes that the actions of European institutions is often seen «hypocrisy and political correctness». As examples, he described the attitude of the project «Northern stream – 2», the migration issues.
