The coexistence of representatives of different peoples, cultures and religions and the possibilities of Russia and an example in global space, said first Deputy head of presidential administration of the Russian Federation Sergey Kiriyenko, at the opening of the Kazan forum of UNESCO.

Kiriyenko on Wednesday participated in the opening of Kazan UNESCO forum on intercultural dialogue under the auspices of the state adviser of Tatarstan, the special envoy of UNESCO for intercultural dialogue Mintimer Shaimiev. The special envoys of UNESCO, goodwill ambassadors, experts in the field of preservation of interethnic and interreligious harmony, representatives of Federal and Republican authorities, clergy, people of science and culture of Russia to discuss new forms of international cooperation in the humanitarian sphere.

«For several centuries Tatarstan is a model of peaceful coexistence of representatives of different peoples and different faiths, not only in Russian Federation but also in the global space. If in some points of our planet such a neighborhood is sometimes a cause of conflict and even tragic collisions, in Tatarstan and in Russia as a whole, we see a completely different example,» — said Kiriyenko.

According to him, it is a question of basic values, the basic relationship.

«And here, in Tatarstan and in Russia as a whole, we have always believed, and we believe that the fact that we are different, different nationalities, different faiths is not a problem, and it is not our weakness is our strength, is our opportunity,» he said.

According to first Deputy head of presidential administration of the Russian Federation, intercultural dialogue is, it would seem that dialogue about the differences, but the more and deeper we study the traditions of the peoples, the greater the understanding that is common between them is much greater than the differences. «Unless there are traditions of such culture, in which the main would not be values of goodness, compassion, mutual aid? If such a culture existed, they disappeared very quickly, the story itself is handed down your verdict,» he said.
