China in the near future intends to increase natural gas deliveries from Russia and Kazakhstan, the Agency reports China News Service citing a responsible person in state administration for energy in the PRC.

In addition, as noted, China also intends to promote the diversification of natural gas imports to the country.

«In 2017, China imported 94,6 billion cubic meters of natural gas, including the Central Asian gas pipeline and the China-myanmarsar gas pipeline from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Myanmar. In the near future will be increased imports from Russia and Kazakhstan», — quotes Agency the words of the representative of management.

He added that the number of countries importing LNG in China has reached 22, thus the level of diversification of supply sources has reached quite a high figure.

Gazprom and China’s CNPC in may 2014 signed a Treaty on supplies of Russian gas to China via the Eastern route. The contract concluded for 30 years provides for the annual supply of 38 billion cubic meters through the pipeline «Power of Siberia». Deliveries are scheduled to begin on 20 December 2019. Also «NOVATEK» together with CNPC is implementing the project «Yamal LNG». China has become the buyer of the second batch of LNG from the project.
