China on Friday made a successful launch of the carrier rocket «Changzheng-2C» satellite for Oceanographic observations and research «Hai’an 1» (HY-1C), the report said the Chinese Corporation aerospace science and technology of China (CASC).

The launch vehicle took place at 11.15 local time (6.15 GMT) from the Baikonur Taiyuan in the North China province of Shanxi. The satellite successfully entered the preset orbit.

HY-1C was the first in a new series of satellites of its own design China to conduct observations beyond the seas, the oceans and climate change.

The satellite, whose service life is five years, will primarily be used to monitor the changes in color and temperature of sea water, environmental pollution, and also for studies of the coastal strip. According to CASC, the satellite will also be used to monitor environmental change on a global scale.

For carrier rockets of family «Changan», or «the Great March» that was the 284 th start.
