Russian President Vladimir Putin meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani invited to discuss various aspects of bilateral cooperation and issues related to Iran’s nuclear program.

«Bilateral relations are developing successfully in practically all directions, but, of course, the key is our interaction in the economic sphere. A lot to do. But I’m sure today we’ll talk about some international issues, including Iran’s nuclear program,» Putin said at the beginning of negotiations.

Speaking about Syria, he noted the contribution of both countries to settling in this country.

«As eliminating the threat of terrorism on the agenda, of course, raises the question of a political settlement,» — said the President of Russia.

In turn, Rouhani said that a few years ago, few could believe that such countries as Iran and Russia will unite in addressing this crisis, as the Syrian.

«Our joint efforts could become a model for resolving other disputes in the region. Despite the fact that everything that is happening in Syria is a sad event, but we managed together to help not only the army and government of Syria, but also to the people of Syria in order to come out of this situation,» — said the President of Iran.

He expressed the opinion that cooperation between the two countries in this region will be beneficial not only to the Syrian people but to the whole world, as the region assumed a global threat.

«Our cooperation in other areas and always have developed rapidly. I can say that today relations between Russia and Iran are strategic in nature. The current level of trust between the two sides in the history of our countries has never been,» said Rouhani.
