American scientists for the first time astronomers were able to detect the «molecular flow», which is involved in the formation of stars in a galaxy at a distance of 12 billion light years from Earth, according to the website of the University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin).

«..We think that the gas streams and the winds responsible for how they (galaxy edition) are formed and developed, adjusting their ability to grow,» — said one of the authors of the research scientist the University of Texas Spilker Justin (Justin Spilker).

Galaxies grow, creating new stars from cold molecular gas. Spilker together with other scientists first were able to see one of these powerful streams of gas in the galaxy SPT2319-55. As explained by the authors of the study, molecular «winds» can be observed in our closest neighbouring galaxies, but until now scientists have not been able to detect so ancient «zvezdoobrazovaniya» thread in the galaxy of the early universe.

SPT2319-55 is so far from Earth that we observe it in the same condition in which it was when the Universe was only a billion years, and its size was 10 % of the current. Monitoring SPT2319-55 allowed the scientists to demonstrate how galaxy time of the birth of the Universe govern the rate of formation of stars, in order not to grow too fast and do not fade.

Some galaxies such as the milky way and Andromeda, are producing new stars at a moderate rate of about one star per year, while other so-called galaxy with a flash of star formation, producing thousands of stars each year.

Such galaxies self-regulate the process of star formation, throwing the excess flow of gas, which formed stars in the surrounding shell — halo of the galaxy, where the gas goes further in outer space, or after some time returns to the galaxy, causing new outbreaks of star formation.
