Consular division of Greece was denied a Schengen visa to the business Manager of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga Varsonofy, who wanted to make a pilgrimage trip to Greece on mount Athos, reported on Saturday, RIA Novosti in the management of the Affairs of the Patriarchate.

«Bishop Barsanuphius for many years makes a fall pilgrimage to mount Athos, but this time he was denied a visa,» — said the Agency interlocutor, without specifying other details.

Earlier some Russian media appeared information about the fact that the Greek Consulate denies visas to Russian priests or issues not three years, as tourists, and the monthly visa. So, Archpriest Vladimir Vigilyansky said that at the end of may his wife was given a visa for three years, and he was only for a month, although he requested three-year. Vigilyansky, he said, had been in Greece for at least 15 times and accused the authorities in «flagrant violation» of the European Convention for the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, and discrimination. Vigilyansky said that «many Russian priests» told them over the past six months happened the same story — gave visa a maximum of a month.

Archpriest Vasily biksey Oksana havrosh said RIA Novosti that this summer had planned to spend the holiday with family in Greece, the visa was given to all members of his family, but he himself refused.
