Means of Church diplomacy with Constantinople exhausted, believe in the ROC

The Moscow Patriarchate is settled «means of Church diplomacy» in relations with the Church of Constantinople, it was stated by the Chairman of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk.

«Apparently, the means of Church diplomacy for today,» — said Metropolitan Hilarion, the TV channel «Russia 24», speaking about relations of the Russian Orthodox Church with the Patriarchate of Constantinople.

«The Constantinople side acted from our point of view is despicable and treacherous,» he said, commenting on the appointment of Patriarch Bartholomew, two of his Exarch to Ukraine without the consent of Patriarch Kirill and Metropolitan of Kiev Onufriy.

According to Metropolitan Hilarion, the more remarkable by the steps of Constantinople, given the last recent meeting in Istanbul August 31, patriarchs Kirill and Bartholomew, head of the DECR described as «apparently quite civilized, polite and even brotherly conversation.»

However, the DECR Chairman expressed his hope that the Constantinople Patriarchate will «reconsider» and «no Exarch are not going anywhere».

Speaking about possible retaliatory measures of the Russian Church Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church noted that «measures can be very different.» «But I probably wouldn’t think their voice before they will be accepted, because after all, we at each stage we leave our yet still partners the opportunity to think again and to reconsider its decision», — concluded the Metropolitan.

On Friday, the Ecumenical Patriarchate announced that «in preparation for the granting of autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine» was appointed its Exarch in Kyiv Archbishop Pamphylian Daniel from the USA and Bishop Hilarion of Edmonton Canada.
