RusHydro within the RF of a large-scale program of modernization of thermal power plants (TPP), estimated at 1.5 trillion rubles, is planning the construction and modernization of five stations in the far East, told reporters the head of the company Nikolay Shulginov.

«The list of objects is defined, it is supported by Russia. We are talking about the construction of Artemovskaya TPP-2 with capacity of 455 MW to replace the output Artemovskaya CHP Khabarovsk CHPP-4 with a capacity of 344 MW to replace the output of Khabarovsk CHPP-1 and the second stage of the Yakut GRES-2 with capacity of 144 MW to replace the output of the Yakut state district power station. Upgrades are planned at Vladivostok TPP-2 (203 MW) and Komsomolsk CHPP-2 (120 MW).

As explained Shulginov, Vladivostok TPP-2 will be transferred to the gas. Khabarovsk CHP-4 will also be gas and Artemovskaya CHP-2 coal.

The Ministry of energy has prepared an ambitious program of modernization of thermal power plant, which is estimated at 1.5 trillion rubles and may affect up to 41 GW. Trapped in the projects will receive a guaranteed return at the expense of increased user charges for power. The payback period is 15 years. The first selection of modernization projects is planned in 2018, over three years: 2022-2024.
