The Kremlin does not know where did the information about the resignation of the acting head of Khakassia Victor Zimin to the second round of elections in the region, there continues election campaign, to talk about the claims to the head of the region is totally incorrect, said the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov.

Elections in the Republic of Khakassia was held in a single voting day on 9 September. Acting head of Khakassia Victor Zimin («United Russia») gained of 32.42% of the vote, losing to the candidate from the Communist party Valentin Konovalov scored 44,81%. None of the candidates receives 50% of the votes, it is anticipated second round of elections. Previously, the newspaper Vedomosti, citing close to the Kremlin source said that Zimin may not make it to the second round and write a letter of resignation.
