The growth of Russia’s GDP in the third and fourth quarters of 2018 is unlikely to be higher than 1.9% on the background of increased uncertainty and volatility in the financial markets, told reporters on the sidelines of the Eastern economic forum the head of the Ministry Maxim Oreshkin.

«Unlikely to be higher than 1.9%,» said Oreshkin.

He recalled that the Ministry expects a slowdown in GDP growth in the first quarter of 2019.

«But also some big positive surprises from the third and fourth quarters do not wait. View. This is due to the increased uncertainty, volatility in financial markets. All this, of course, is not the background against which growth could be accelerated,» — said Oreshkin.

On Monday Rosstat raised its estimate of Russian growth in the first half of 2018 to 1.7% from 1.6%, while growth in GDP for the second quarter increased to 1.9% from 1.8%.
