Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has compared what is happening Venezuela right now with the coup d’etat against President Salvador Allende in Chile, the 45th anniversary of which was celebrated on Tuesday.

According to Maduro, and now and then took place an economic war, financial blockade and assassination attempts on the President.

«The Venezuelan people know what a coup, what is economic war, sabotage, what is psychological warfare. Salvador Allende was in Chile, one in 1973 and, in the end, framed his body, the only thing he had left, the bullets of fascism,» said Maduro on state television.

He also recalled the attempted coup d’état in 2002 by right-wing sectors of Venezuela with the support of the United States, which was halted by the civil-military Union.

The military coup in Chile in September 1973 was led by General Augusto Pinochet, who then took power in the South American country in their hands and handed it to a civilian government in 1990. According to official data, during the reign of Pinochet in Chile were killed for political reasons almost 3.2 thousand people, almost 1.2 thousand were missing, tortured and subjected to about 28 thousand people. Against the Pinochet was prosecuted, but in 2006 he died.
