Russia and China must agree on gas supplies via the Western route in the near future, said Russian energy Minister Alexander Novak, speaking at a session at the Eastern economic forum.

«I will add that yesterday on President Putin’s talks with President XI Jinping, the Chinese President said that he had set the task in the shortest possible time to complete negotiation of the contract for gas deliveries via the Western route,» said Novak.

«As you know, negotiations between Gazprom and CNPC on this question, have all specifications agreed upon, there is not much to negotiate. But it is also a volume of about 30 billion cubic meters of gas. We hope that our colleagues in the near future will make every effort to ensure the agreement of managers and to conclude the corresponding contract,» he added.

Fourth Eastern economic forum will be held at the site of the far Eastern Federal University campus on the Russian island on September 11-13. MIA «Russia today» is the General information partner of the WEF.
