Domestic wine producers will be able to fully meet the needs of the public sector in case of restriction of procurement for it imported beverages, told RIA Novosti President of the Union of winegrowers and winemakers of Russia Leonid Popovich.

Earlier, the Ministry of agriculture of Russia proposed to limit the purchase of imported wines for state and municipal needs. The planned commencement of the relevant draft resolutions in force — January 2019.

«A long time ago it is necessary to buy Russian, Russian wine is more than enough, especially for Russian events. Russian producers will be able to fully meet the needs of the public sector in wine, in any quantity and in any amount,» said Popovich.

Assessment Popovich, 40% consumed in Russia are imported wine drinks, 60% are domestic products.

At the end of August 2016, the Russian government adopted a decree restricting the procurement of a number of imported products. In particular, restrictions apply to fish products, caviar, salt and sugar, beef and veal, pork, butter, cheese.

The procurement of imported products is limited by the principle of «the third wheel»: if in the course of purchase have been filed at least two eligible bids for the supply of products, the country of origin is the state of the Eurasian economic Union (EEU), the application with the imported products rejected.
