The earliest known sound recording by British musician David Bowie has sold nearly 40 thousand pounds, according to the website of the auction house Omega Auctions.

It is noted that the musician has made this recording at the age of 16 with a group of Konrads. The final price of the lot amounted to 39 thousand 360 pounds, although the entry is initially estimated at only 10 thousand pounds. Also more than 17 thousand pounds went under the hammer several promotional sketches made by the singer, photos and documents of the group. Poster Konrads in 1963 was sold for 6 thousand 600 pounds.

Famous British singer and songwriter David Bowie died in January 2016 after a long illness. Throughout the career of the artist he has sold over 136 million records and is among the ten most successful artists in the history of popular music in the UK.

In 2004 Rolling Stone magazine placed Bowie on the 39th place in the rating «100 greatest artists of rock music of all time» list and 23rd in the ranking of «the 100 greatest singers of all time».
