The Chairman of the Commission of Moscow city Duma on security Inna Svyatenko condemned the people who destroyed the works of the artist Vasily Slonova at the exhibition in Moscow, and expressed hope that the Metropolitan police will prosecute those responsible.

Earlier on Wednesday, unknown persons poured paint over the objects of the exhibition of Vasily Slonova «heavenly Jerusalem», exhibited in the gallery «11.12» at Winzavod in Moscow. Later the gallery Director Alexander Sharov said that the gallery would be to sue for damages against people that ruined her work.

«Vandalism is a socially dangerous phenomenon that is unacceptable in modern society. For this kind of crimes should be taken seriously. I’m sure that the law enforcement bodies of Moscow will make every effort to ensure that the participants and organizers of these riots were brought to justice,» said Svyatenko.

The MP also stressed that biases or differences in the art of should not lead «to aggressive attacks and destruction.»

The exhibition Slonova «heavenly Jerusalem» opens on Tuesday.
