About 150 amendments to the government draft about the changes of the pension legislation came to Committee of the state Duma on labour and social policy, told reporters the head of Committee Yaroslav Nilov.

Chairman of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin on Wednesday holds a second meeting of the working group of the state Duma on perfection of the pension legislation.

«At the moment, the Committee received 146 amendments. Most actively received various proposals, including representatives of NGOs, other civil society institutions, and from individual deputies of different levels — municipal, regional,» — said Nilov.

According to him, from the regions of the amendments was received.

«Amendments made by deputies, groups of deputies and Federation Council members. 146 nine of the amendments were introduced by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin,» — said Nilov.

According to the Chairman of the state Duma, on September 13 at the plenary session will be considered one of these initiatives – the introduction of liability for employers for unjustified refusal to hire or dismissal of citizens approaching retirement age.

Speaking of the coming amendments, Volodin also stated that all the committees of the State Duma should «perform system legislation in the sphere of pension provision from the point of view of their specialized areas».

In the meeting attended by the Minister of labour and social protection RF Maxim Topilin, the Chairpersons of the committees of the state Duma on labor, social policy and veterans Affairs – Yaroslav Nilov, on budget and taxes Andrey Makarov, on culture Elena Yampolskaya, health – Dmitry Morozov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on state building and the legislation Alexander Gribov, education and science Gennady Onishchenko, as well as representatives of four factions of the state Duma, trade Union leaders, members of the public, expert, business and professional communities.

The state Duma in July passed in the first reading a government bill suggesting a gradual increase in age of retirement to 65 years for men and 63 years for women.

However, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed several measures to mitigate the decision, announced in a televised address to the Russians. In particular, the President called for the age of retirement for women at age 60, early retirement for mothers of large families and the introduction of measures for the protection of persons close to retirement age, including raising unemployment benefits and the introduction of liability for employers for dismissal before retirement. Proposals to change the pension system was designed as amendments to the law submitted by the President for consideration in the state Duma on 6 September, the same day the «United Russia» also brought in GD the first set of amendments.

Now the standard age of retirement in Russia is 60 and 55 years for men and women respectively prescribed by law the retirement age established in the 1930-ies. The question of raising the retirement age has been discussed for quite some time. The need for this is caused by growing life expectancy and the inability to provide a decent pension in circumstances when the number of employees in the country decreases, while the number of pensioners, by contrast, is growing. Today, in most countries the retirement age is 60-65 years.
