Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine Onufry said that the Patriarchate of Constantinople had not the moral and canonical right to interfere in the Affairs of Ukraine and submit to become their exarchs.

Earlier, the Patriarchate of Constantinople said that «in preparation for the granting of autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine» was appointed its Exarch in Kyiv. This decision strongly condemned the Moscow Patriarchate, calling it an intrusion on the canonical territory of other local churches. The Chairman of the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion said that the Moscow Patriarchate will break Eucharistic communion with the Patriarchate of Constantinople in the event of the giving them the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church.

«The Patriarch of Constantinople has sent to Ukraine two exarchs of their. This is anticanonically, that is, non-canonical action of the Church of Constantinople. She has no right to send our independent Church of his legate… She has no moral and a canonical pair to interfere in the Affairs of Ukraine», — said Andrew in an interview to Ukrainian TV channel «inter».

Andrew believes that the granting of a Tomos (decree) of the autocephaly of the restricts the freedom of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. «We have his Synod, has its own Council of bishops, we have our own ecclesiastical court, we have everything… Tomos — this is a limitation of our freedom that we have, we do not need, if he needed someone to let them do it, we don’t need him, we have all the attributes of a free life for our spiritual serve the people,» added Andrew.
