More than 300 new turnstiles appeared in the entrance halls of the stations of the Moscow metro since the beginning of the year, said RIA Novosti Deputy mayor of Moscow Maxim Liksutov.

«More than 300 new turnstiles installed in the subway since the beginning of the year. New devices in the framework of the comprehensive program of equipment upgrades appeared at 17 stations located on different lines,» he said, referring to the station «Sokol», «Gory» and «Street 1905».

As explained Liksutov, new turnstiles with glass doors operate silently, fast and secure for passengers, they have the option of installing a terminal for contactless fare payment. Also one of the turnstiles in the line is wider than the others for convenient use disabled citizens and passengers with prams or large bags.

The program on replacement of the turnstiles started in the metro in 2016, during which time it was updated over 3 thousand turnstiles at 105 stations.

«Work on the replacement of equipment will take place in the future — technically outdated turnstiles will be replaced by more modern counterparts on a regular basis,» concluded Liksutov.
