The Brazilian real fell to historic lows against the dollar

The Brazilian real on Thursday hit record lows, dropping to the level of 4,195 reals for one US dollar.

Trading, the dollar went up by 1.11%, said the channel Globo.

The previous minimum level of value of the real was recorded in January of 2016, when the American currency gave 4,163 real. Since the beginning of this year, the dollar has already risen by 26.6 per cent.

This happens in less than a month before the presidential election in the South American country, which was not allowed for a jail term for corruption, the most popular candidate Luiz inácio Lula da Silva.
