Czech Prime Minister Andrew Babish said Saturday that about possible the current threat to democracy in a particular country should judge its citizens, not MEPs or EU officials in Brussels.

On Wednesday MEPs adopted a resolution which said the threat of withdrawal of Hungary from the democratic principles of the EU and recommended the European Council, to assess the risk of a violation by Hungary of the terms of the EU Treaty with the possibility of taking appropriate measures. The resolution was voted 448 deputies, against was 197, 48 abstained. Among those who endorsed the document, there were many MEPs from the Czech Republic.

«Democratic elections are everywhere, everything is happening according to the law, so think about the possible threat of democracy is better judged by the Hungarians or poles, rather than the MEPs or officials in Brussels,» said Babish in an interview with the Prague newspaper Právo, commenting adopted on Wednesday the resolution the EP, which declares the threat of retreat from Hungary of fundamental democratic principles of the EU.

Babish said that he distanciruemsa from voting Czech MEPs, who supported the resolution drafted by Hungary, did not share their views and considers the ongoing attack on well-functioning unit of the Visegrad four (Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. — Approx. ed.), who successfully repelled the idea of the EU about the illegal distribution of quota refugees, and now criticizes the draft of the new EU budget.

«Czech Republic is in any case will not abandon his allies. Of course, I don’t like the idea of a possible investigation of the situation in Poland or Hungary by the European Commission. Who knows if on the basis of false information, the same does not expect the Czech Republic,» said Babish.
