The UN has included Russia in the group of countries with the highest level of development

Russia joined the group of countries with the highest level of human development. It is stated in the report of the United Nations development Programme (UNDP).

The presentation was held yesterday in the headquarters of UN in new York.

Total rating included 189 countries, among which Russia took the 49th place. The group of countries with very high human development level was 59 of the States, of neighboring countries in their number were also Estonia (30), Poland (33rd place), Lithuania (35th place), Latvia (41st place), Belarus (53-e a place) and Kazakhstan (58-e a place).

Topped the rating of Norway. The three leaders also included Switzerland and Australia.

Many post-Soviet countries were in the next group of States with a high level of development. Georgia took the 70th place, Azerbaijan — 80th, Armenia — 83rd, Ukraine — 88-e, Uzbekistan was on the 105th position, and Turkmenistan — on the 108th. Moldova, and Tajikistan fell into the category of States with medium level of development and is located on 112th and 127th place respectively.

The human development index is an indicator calculated annually for cross-national measurement of quality of life. Its calculation requires the coefficients based on three main indicators: life expectancy, literacy and standard of living.
