A group of scientists at North-Eastern Federal University (NEFU) in the direction of the Ministry of environment of Yakutia has collected water samples from the river Vilyui, contaminated as a result of washout of dams of the company «ALROSA», the press service of the head and governments of the region.

In mid-August in the Mirny district due to heavy rains broke through dams dredge polygons of the company «ALROSA» on the river Irelyakh. Contaminated water containing iron ions and copper fell into the river Vilyui, the Irelyakh and Small Botuobuya.

In Mirninsky, Suntarsky, verkhnevilyuisk and Vilyui regions of Yakutia has left the second group of employees of scientific research Institute NEFU.

«The first group has collected 22 samples. All selected materials researchers transferred for further analysis in the national information-analytical centre of ecological monitoring Ministry of ecology of Yakutia and in the Center of hygiene and epidemiology», – the press service quoted information from the leading scientific employee of scientific research Institute of applied ecology of the North Valery, Velichenko.

Earlier it was reported that the Minister of environment, natural resources and forestry of the Republic Mr. Afansiev said about the intention to attract scientists to assess the status of water bodies. The situation on the rivers of Yakutia is under the personal control of the acting head of the region aysena Nikolaev.
