Metropolitan Kiparsky and Anticiparse Seraphim said that the actions of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople lead to the split of Orthodoxy and urged him to repent and cease to provoke the schism.

Kiparsky and Antikithira Archdiocese is included in the Greek Orthodox Church.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is trying to achieve recognition of non-canonical religious structures and creation on their basis one local Autocephalous Church in Ukraine, outside the framework of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The Patriarchate of Constantinople had previously reported that «in preparation for the granting of autocephaly» was appointed its Exarch in Kyiv.

The Synod of the Russian Church on Friday went to the actual «break diplomatic relations» with the Patriarchate of Constantinople after he was appointed its Exarch to Ukraine is a canonical territory of the Moscow Patriarchate. In particular, it decided to cease commemoration of the Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew I during the Patriarch’s divine services in and out of structures, where preside the representatives of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. Relations of the Russian Church with Constantinople was in this crisis only once in all its more than 1000-year history.

The persistence of Patriarch Bartholomew to provide the schismatics in Ukraine autocephaly leads to sad results, the Patriarch of Constantinople instead of the Pope should declare repentance, reads the statement of Metropolitan Kiverskogo, the text of which is available to RIA Novosti.

«I was deeply saddened upon hearing about the termination of ecclesiastical communion of the Patriarchate of Russia with the Ecumenical Patriarchate. These sad and disastrous results has led to the persistence of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on the autocephaly of the Ukrainian schismatics who are separated from our Holy Orthodox Church, that is, from all the Orthodox Patriarchates and Autocephalous local Orthodox churches constitute a small minority of the Ukrainian people», — said in a statement.

Metropolitan Seraphim recalls that until recently the Patriarchate of Constantinople recognized only the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church under the leadership of Metropolitan Onufriy.

«Now he for his own reasons gives the autocephaly of the dissenters of Ukraine and revising the Sacred order and of the canonical Orthodox Archdiocese of Ukraine, which recognizes not only the Russian Orthodox Church, but all the other local Orthodox Churches», — the document says.

«The dissenters, as we know, are not the Church, and the communion with them is forbidden Divine and Holy Canons, Apostolic and Ecumenical Councils. What then is the perseverance of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in recognition of Raskolnikov as an Autocephalous Church? To provoke splits and divisions in a Single, universal and Apostolic Church of Christ?» – said in a statement.

Metropolitan Seraphim said that many of the troubles were caused and provoked by the decisions of the Holy Synod, held in Crete in June 2016.

The Metropolitan criticized the recent decision of the Synod of the Constantinople Church to allow married priests under certain conditions.

«Hot supplication and request with all my heart we turn from the remote corners of our Motherland Greek, from the area of Kythira and antikithira Islands, to the see of the Patriarch of our Orthodox Church Bartholomew to stay to avoid new schisms and divisions in the all-Holy body of Christ and our Holy Orthodox Church. Instead of praying together, organized recently with the Pope and with the leaders and representatives of other Christian communities and other faiths, which are not only not helpful, but seriously insulting Orthodox Christians, he should declare repentance and return to the universal Orthodox Christian world to «once the Holy Faith», to the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Apostles and the Holy Fathers, the Ecumenical Councils of the Church, and in General in our Orthodox tradition,» — said in a statement.

Metropolitan Seraphim stated that he was praying for the Church to cope with a spiritual crisis and avoid a painful to the unity of the Orthodox flock of the consequences.

«Because we know from St. John Chrysostom that «the sin of schism is not washed away even with the blood of martyrs,» — said Metropolitan Cifersky.
