Russia has shipped to India of materials and equipment for construction of the second stage (power units No. 3 and 4), Kudankulam nuclear power plant in the amount of about half a billion dollars, said RIA Novosti President of the engineering division of Rosatom group ASE Valery Limarenko.

«As of this summer made the shipment of equipment and materials of container transport and ship parties at a total cost of about 0.5 billion US dollars in contractual prices. The basis of shipments are the equipment and materials needed in the primary installation for power units,» Limarenko said on the sidelines of the held in Vienna, 62nd General conference of the IAEA.

«Currently at the NPP site and deployed full-scale construction work on main and auxiliary buildings of reactor compartment and turbine building, as well as earthworks on the most title of buildings and communication tunnels areas in the second stage,» he said.

The construction of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant is the largest facility of Russian-Indian economic cooperation. First unit of the plant began electricity production in 2013, in the summer of 2016, he was finally transferred to the customer. The second unit in August 2016, was first connected to the national grid of India, and at the end of March 2017, he was put into warranty service.

Now comes the second stage of construction (units №№3 and 4), Kudankulam nuclear power plant is preparing for construction of the third stage (blocks №№5 and 6) of this station. The General contractor (in terms of engineering, supply of equipment and technical assistance) — JSC Atomstroyexport (a part of the ASE).
