Inter-factional working group to finalize the draft law on the celebration of the Day of Paris decided to return the initiative to the authors for revision, said Vice-speaker of the state Duma from «United Russia» Peter Tolstoy.

Earlier, the deputies of the State Duma took the decision to withdraw from consideration a draft law on the celebration of the Day of the capture of Paris and supported the proposal of the speaker of the house of Vyacheslav Volodin to create inter-faction working group on improvement initiatives.

«My colleagues have discussed the bill with the involvement of the scientific community of historians. And agreed that in the 14th year, when Paris was taken, was part of an overseas trip, not taking place on the territory of Russia. The law on Days of military glory involves all the same the victory of the Russian weapons on the territory of Russia. There were other arguments which have convinced us that the members of the working group unanimously decided that this project reject, return it to the authors for revision and to develop, possibly, other proposals that will meet Federal and legislation, and our historical reality,» said Thick journalists following the meeting of the working group on Tuesday.

The politician said that MPs want to «make accurate and sound decisions».

Project, the author of which is the Deputy from LDPR Mikhail Degtyarev, proposed to establish a new day of military glory of Russia — «31 March — Day of the capture of Paris and the victorious completion of the Patriotic war of 1812 and foreign campaigns of Russian army 1813 — 1814 years.» The defence Committee informed the initiative was not supported. Deputy head of the Committee Yuri Svitkin (EP) said that in Russia on 8 September, the day of military glory — Day of the battle of Borodino.
