The European Commissioner for justice, consumers and gender equality Vera jourova, sent the head of Ministry of justice of Russia Alexander Konovalov letter with an appeal to reconsider the case and release from prison of convicted terrorism Oleg Sentsov, said RIA Novosti in the press service of Yurova.

«I urge you to reconsider the case on humanitarian grounds and taking into account Russia’s international obligations in the field of human rights and release Mr. Sentsov», — stated in the message.

The Commissioner called Konovalova to provide access to Sentsov representatives of the Ukrainian authorities, including the Ombudsman.

Sentsov was sentenced by the court to 20 years on charges of organizing terrorist acts in the Crimea. This sentence to ten years in prison he was also convicted an accomplice of Sentsov, Alexander Kolchenko. Two more defendants in the case, Alexey Chirny and Gennady Afanasiev, received seven years in prison.
