Ukraine could create a full-fledged naval base on the sea of Azov with the same success, and build a military space base on Mars — for this there is no staff, no technical capabilities, told RIA Novosti on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Russian national fleet support movement (MEDEF), candidate of political Sciences Mikhail Nenashev.

«Ukraine could create a full-fledged naval base on the sea of Azov with the same degree of probability as to create a military space base on Mars. For four years the remains of the naval forces of Ukraine are in Odessa, where there is a naval base with corresponding of pier-type area and infrastructure,» — said the Agency interlocutor.

In his opinion, in Odessa, «not even two combat-ready ships at least of the second rank».

The DPF leader said that «Ukraine has no personnel able to serve a high-tech Navy, to build large warships and berthing facilities».

«When it came to the Azov sea, it is shallow. It will go mostly vessels of «river — sea». There is need to develop the fishery, tourism, cultural, humanitarian ties between our countries, not to build a base for warships. Unfortunately, at present it is hampered by the different conflicts that kindle Bandera top of Ukraine at the suggestion of American curators», — said Nenashev.

Earlier Tuesday, the Ukrainian Lieutenant-General Vasily Bogdan declared to the edition «Observer» that Kiev is able to create in the Azov region such naval infrastructure, which will become for Russia a serious problem and will force her to «make concessions, sit down at the negotiating table». According to him, the establishment of a naval base will also affect the implementation of the Minsk agreements and other issues, including the issue of Crimea. Bogdan also expressed confidence that Kiev will help the West. However, he cited «agreement with the American party» on strengthening the defense of Ukraine.

Before this, the Kiev authorities announced plans to establish a base of naval forces on the coast of the Azov sea, which has deployed two armored cruisers. NSDC also ordered to increase its military presence in the sea of Azov, and to ensure the units of coastal defense missiles. The commander of land forces of VSU the General-the Colonel Sergey Popko announced an increase in army group in the sea of Azov.

The situation of navigation in the Azov sea has escalated in the beginning of the year. In March Ukraine detained the Russian trawler «Nord», put forward against its captain charged with illegal visit to Crimea «with the aim of causing harm to the state interests». In August in the port of Kherson detained the tanker «Mekhanik Pogodin».

Russian authorities found the actions of the Kiev «sea terrorism» and responded by increasing border inspections in his part of the Azov sea. Then the Ukrainian border guards said that the Russians «have begun a strict policy of detention and inspection of ships». While the Crimean border guard of FSB of Russia stated that it conducts audits in accordance with international law of the sea and had not received complaints from shipowners, and the Ukrainian foreign Ministry admitted that Russian border guards do not violate the protocols during the inspection.
