Russia is becoming a country of non-cash turnover over a third of Russians spend is with Bank cards, said the head of Sberbank German Gref.

«More than a third of all Russians are spending on Bank cards. Every second operation with Bank cards is contactless: either this is ApplePay, GooglePay or AndroidPay, or is NFC technology on Bank cards», — he said.

According to him, translations from card to card through digital channels has exceeded the volume of cash withdrawals during this period in 2018. The volume of transfers from card to card amounted last year to 8 trillion rubles, and for the first eight months of the year to 13.7 trillion rubles.

«We can say that Russia is becoming a country of non-cash turnover», — said Gref.

The first Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia Olga Skorobogatova in July said that the share of cashless payments in Russia in 2018 will amount to 55.6 per cent. Then she noted that the Bank of Russia fully satisfied with the present ratio of cash and non-cash payments in the future, the share of cashless payments will increase. According to the Bank, at the present time the share of cashless payments in Russia almost reaches 50%.

According to the Bank, the Russians in 2017 for the first time were more likely to use a Bank card to pay for goods and services than cash.
