CBR will not resume the purchase of currency for the Ministry of Finance until the end of the year even while reducing volatility in the foreign exchange market; the question of a return to purchases of foreign currency in the next year remains open, told reporters the first Deputy Chairman of the regulator Ksenia Yudaeva on the sidelines of the Second Eurasian women’s forum.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anton Siluanov earlier on Thursday said that the Bank of Russia this year may resume the purchase of currency for the Treasury, if the ruble will continue to strengthen.

«The Central Bank, of course, hard promises rarely gives, but to the point. If the press release says that we suspend until the end of the year, so we suspend until the end of the year. Even if it will decrease volatility in the foreign exchange market,» she said.

«Another thing is how we react next year is an open question. There may be a return to regular purchases, purchases are postponed will be determined later. Here we until a clear answer can not give, all will depend on the situation on the markets», — said Yudaeva.

CBR 14 September adopted a decision to suspend the purchase of currency for the Treasury market until the end of December 2018. This decision has provided considerable support to the national currency, which in early September refreshed the minimums of 2.5 years — the dollar rose to 69.4 rubles, Euro — up to 80.85 of the ruble.
