«Roscosmos» will continue to participate in the creation of a lunar station Gateway

State Corporation «Roscosmos» will continue participation in the project to establish an international lunar station Gateway, together with the United States and other international partners, told RIA Novosti in the Corporation.

In September of last year, «Roskosmos» and NASA in the framework of the international Astronautical Congress in Australia signed a Memorandum on cooperation in the establishment of an international lunar station, Deep Space Gateway, later called Gateway — Lunar Orbital Platform. In the framework of the project Russia has offered to build an airlock to exit astronauts on the surface of the station. This spring, the source RIA Novosti reported that the Russian side did not accept the country’s role in this project. It is proposed to make compartment according to American technical standard and under the American spacesuit.

«The delegation of the state Corporation «Rosatom» took part in the international meeting on discussion of requirements for the lunar orbital station, which was held in Orlando (USA). Roskosmos confirmed the intention to be a full participant in this project. By results of work, the parties agreed to continue cooperation to establish an international lunar station,» said the Corporation. Specific plans and tasks of Russia in the project «Roskosmos» is not clarified.

The meeting of the panel on research capabilities of the ISS (ISS Exploration Capabilities Study Team, IECST) held in the U.S. from 8 to 15 September. During the meeting, the U.S. side presented a full-sized model of the first Gateway module — Power Propulsion Module (Energy-propulsion module) and emergency rescue system for the us spacecraft for missions to the moon Orion.

Was also updated plans for the construction of the station and its name. Instead of the Gateway, a Lunar Orbital Platform, it was called The Gateway (Gate). As planned, the first module — Power Propulsion Module will be launched in 2022. In 2023 it is planned to launch two modules is made of international partners, the ESPRIT module for storing fuel and a storage module American manufacturing U. S. Utilization Module. At the same time to the station is planned to start a logistics module and a manipulator arm for transferring goods along the surface of the station. In 2024-25 years to the lunar station should be added to international and U.S. residential modules.

Instead the working group IECST created a group to coordinate the work directly on the lunar Gateway station Formulation Sync Review (FSR).
